A number of big hires and executive moves at AI firms this week including the two biggest

darlings in the space, Open AI and Anthropic, are due to D'Rosa on what that might mean for the

industry as a whole in today's tech check. Morning, D.

Hey good morning Carl. Gen AI, it's growing up both the underlying technology itself as we saw

through both the open AI and the Google demos but the composition of the companies themselves. They're going

corporate. New hires and executive moves this week suggest that a number of the

most well-funded highly regarded startups are moving from an all-out focus on

building their core technology to

turning that tech into products and apps and with a sense of urgency.

Anthropic hired Instagram co-founder Mike Krieger as its new head of product not long after the company

released its Claude app for iPhones in a statement the Anthropic CEO Daria Amode said

Mike's background in developing intuitive products and user experiences will be invaluable

as we create new ways for people to interact with Claude, particularly in the workplace,

i.e. get the tech into users hands and find business uses as well.

There was also French open source AI darling Mistral hiring a new GM for North

America that would be Marjorie Januitz who has held chief revenue officer

rules at a number of other tech companies and perplexity adding three new advisors

who have held senior rules or helped build products at Uber, Android, and Bing.

And finally though guys, for all of those hires, there was a very notable departure as well.
