Yossi's here, former General of Intelligence of the IDF, now in the reserves, to help us understand headlines that are coming in very fast.

IDF renews ground operations in Gaza Strip. The Houthis are firing missiles at Israel. In Hezbollah, land in the north, there is no active incoming right now. There have been incidents over these last

days where the IAF and IDF have responded to provocations. But right now, all the attention is

to the ground assault in parts of Gaza, North Gaza, and the camp known as Con Yunus. You'll see a very good evening to you.

How we got here is the failure of Hamas to negotiate in good faith or negotiate at all.

What is the mission of the operation now underway in northern Gaza? Good day to you, Kup.

Good day and thank you for having me.

Well, the mission is doublefold.

If possible, to convince Hamas to accept the deal that was on the table presented by the

United States that would lead us to extend stage A of the former deal for

releasing hostages and bring about the release of something like 10 more alive hostages

in return for extension of the ceasefire and the release of more terrorists from jail from Israel.

If we can manage to do that through putting more pressure on Hamas, it would be good.

We were trying to withhold some of the humanitarian aid.

We were trying to stop some of the electricity that we provide the gans.

And now we are moving with the ground operation in order to convince them to allow such a

deal to move forward.

If, on the other hand, they insist on defusing to move forward on the deal for releasing

the ostriches, then the ground operation is going to be extended, and we are going to see an operation that would eventually lead to the removal of Hamas from power in the Gaza Strip and the final defeat.

And it might take some time, but this is where we're heading, and this is a little bit different than what we were trying to accomplish in the first stage of the war, where we just were trying to dismantle the military formations of Hamas.
