Many of us block our ultimate success because we have an old fear we picked up in childhood

Really want you to pay attention to the first fear, which is the big one that gets in a lot of

our ways, which is the fear of outshining other people, the fear of outshining our friends,

and especially the fear of outshining people who are in our family.

Because our families tend to have a hierarchy, right?

And we expect people to stay on their rung in the ladder of that hierarchy.

I will never forget, 10 years ago or so, we did this online launch, made an enormous amount

of money, and I took a screenshot of the total revenue, and I sent it to a family member,

and I expected like, hey, man, that's amazing, good job.

That is not what happened.

It was nothing but vitriol.

You need to be more humble. And it wasn't that I did anything wrong. It's that I was disturbing the hierarchy.

I was making this individual feel very uncomfortable with where he was in life. And he felt like I was

passing him up. And this is what tends to happen when we become more

successful. And like the moral of the story is that you have to be prepared for that to happen.
