I first met Gary Gullman when I interviewed him in the fall of 2017 in a hotel in Manhattan.

Gary had been dealing with major depressive disorder since he was a kid, and it had gotten very bad.

Gary had been getting inpatient care, and then in his 40s,

he had moved back in with his mom in Peabody, Massachusetts, because he couldn't take care of
