Gary Goldman who will be showing up maybe 12 minutes late if I know my customer

is one of the strongest stand-up comedians in the country. You may know him from

last comic standing on which he came in third or tour-gasm with Dane Cook, on which he

had to survive touring the country with Dane Cook.

I first met Gary at Stand Up, New York on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

I had just finished doing a set in an open mic and Gary was sitting at the bar.

We started talking and within minutes we were trying

to figure out which one of us could name more WWE champions, me and which one of us could

more accurately quote Broadway Danny Rose, him sadly.

Here's the thing about Gary.

He's a stand-up purest.

Most comedians now are always trying to get a sitcom or a movie. Maybe Gary will do one of those things that they come along, but it's not what inspires him.

He is a fanatic about jokes. Timing, words, rhythm. I want to ask him why and how it started. Because at one time

he was a football player, a division one football player, and I guess I want to know

if he was cracking wise in the locker room

how the linemen took it and how he knew that the battlefield he really wanted to be on was the stage.
