So last week was the five-year anniversary of Gary Shenling's tragic death.

And, you know, we all kind of gather or get a zoom together when it's his birthday or when it's the anniversary of his death and just remember him and share stories and laugh.

One of my favorite jokes of his is he'd go on stage and he'd say, you know what I like to do after I masturbate?

Go on stage and tell a few jokes.

And I remember I said it his memorial. I was like, you know what I like to do after I masturbate?

Speak at a nice memorial service.

I remembered something from- I met Gary when I was 24. That's when I started playing basketball at his house every Sunday.

Very early on I was, you know, he really was my mentor and my friend and we were very close.

But in the beginning I was just in total awe, you know, like being around him was like heart pounding.

Like I was a super fan, you know.

And one day we had become friends, but I wasn't yet, you know, just like, yeah, Gary, he's my friend.
