Summary

Dan and Nick discuss the bombshell report from former Giants beat reporter Mike Garafolo – who has more sources in the building and a better track record reporting on the Giants than almost anyone out there. Garafolo said the Giants have a 76.9% chance of drafting a quarterback in Round 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft and went on to report on the Giants’ discussions about trading up for the 1st, 2nd or 3rd overall pick. Dan and Nick break down what this means coming from Garafolo, what the price might look like, why the Bears might have a sneaky incentive to trade down to No. 6 with the Giants and a lot more. A lot of news, a lot of buzz going down as Nick himself is trying to find a home, a new place to live. I know he's been grinding those realtors and those places around New York trying to find somewhere to live. So I had to bring him in here to discuss what I consider to be pretty much a bombshell that was dropped yesterday out of nowhere. Before yesterday, obviously the combine's getting going. The speculation about the Giants potentially being interested in a quarterback in this draft, Nick, their speculation about them potentially trading up, but it was just speculation. There was nothing really to it. But as we all know, following this team for as long as we have, and for those who don't, we'll go over it as to why now. But there are two people who you listen to when they report on the Giants. It's Jay Glazer, who called the O'Dell Beckham Jr. Trade before it happened, called the Wink-Martindale situation for it happened. And it's Mike Garifolo, who's also had an incredible track record when it comes to the Giants. why does Garifalo have that tracker? Well, he covered the beat before there was even such thing.

1:27.7

He was the beat guy. And since then, he's moved up to NFL network. And since then, he's collected and continue to have really good sources from inside the building. A lot of the new beats that come on, this is not a knock against them. But it's tough for them to gain sources within the-shots fired. Yeah, no shot.

1:28.6

It's tough for them to gain sources within the organization. It's really tough these days. And you have to really work at and you have to build it. And Mike Garofalo has built a really big network. So it was a bombshell to me, Nick, when I heard him say on NFL network yesterday, and I'll have it right up here. for those who didn't hear it, Mike Garofo said he thinks there's a 76.9, and this is a funny number,

1:28.8

because I don't know where it comes from. And it's odd and it's weird. But he said he's a 76.9 percent and that's high. Chance the Giants take a quarterback in round one. And everyone on, you know, it was a reaction from, from Ian Rappaport, whoever else was on set, like, whoa, what?

2:01.2

What did you just say? He's like in Carapeno replied. He said, you said, be specific.

2:05.7

And because they said, that seems pretty high. He's like, yeah, you said be specific. And he said, as I've mentioned throughout, I knew the Giants were at six when I said six was the potential

2:01.1

trade back spot for the Bears because he's been discussing, you know, will the bears or will

2:05.1

the Pat and for the Patriots as well, will they trade pick one or three? He's like, I mentioned six because I knew the Giants were at six. And he says, they're a team that is taking the temperature. And this was a quote from Garifolo to see what the price will be to move up to one, two and three. The fact that he's reporting, Nick, that they are literally taking the temperature.

2:17.7

They're trying to see what the price is to trade up.

2:19.7

That's not like a speculation. That's him reporting that. Now, the 76.9% chance them taking a quarterback in round one, that's speculation on his part, probably based on his sources. But they literally, according to him, taking the temperature to see what it would be like to trade up for

2:50.9

one of those spots um and they said if they draft someone he could be holding the seat for someone

2:56.0

or you know daniel jones could still be holding his seat but he he followed up and he said yeah

2:59.5

76.9 percent chance he could see the giant taking quarterback in round one and then to follow up on
