What's up everybody? Welcome to IGN Gamescoop. I'm your host, Damon Hatfield. This is Greg Miller. Hey. This is Colin Moriarty. Yep. This is Justin Davis. You weren't sure there for a second.

0:29.8

Is it Rich? Yeah. We're just talking about Rich and other names in Anthony and whatnot. We're about to talk about Valve's big picture mode.

0:38.8

This is a steam on your TV here. So what's the big picture? Well, hold on. Get a little bit more.

0:44.8

That's all that's going to be happening today. A little bit we're going to be talking about Sony and Bethesda and Skyrim on PS3 and the DLC for that call. I know you have a lot to say on this subject.

0:55.8

So stay tuned folks for the new story. You don't care about it.

1:00.8

This is big picture mode. This is big news because a long time. Valve has been rumored to be working on a console for a long time.

1:08.8

And apparently this is sort of their first step. They're like testing the waters right now. They've unveiled big picture mode for steam. This is steam for your TV.

1:16.8

You have to hook up your PC to your TV. And then it's sort of a redesign steam to work better on your TV setup.

1:24.8

To control with your Xbox controller, there's like a lotus design. It's a lotus design for typing on your TV.

1:31.8

The typing thing seems really cool. Obviously you don't want to mess around with how Xbox and PlayStation make you type out words with your controller.

1:38.8

And it's kind of a pain. They invented this. I don't know if they invented it or if they're using a system that sort of already existed.

1:43.8

You don't use your dual analog sticks to push in one of the eight directions. Like either a diagonal or one of the four cardinal directions.

1:50.8

And then from there, you press color on your controller for what letter you want to type. And it sounds sort of weird, but they insist that people, once you figure out how it works, you get really fast at it.

2:01.8

And you have all access to all 26 letters within two clicks. And that lotus sort of controller setup seems really slick to me.

2:08.8

And you can use steam on your PC. Play on your TV. Play all of your steam games on your TV. And then there's a web browser. I don't know if it's their own browser.

2:14.8

But there's a way to browse a web on your TV that's using your Xbox controller that's supposed to be very fluid and easy to navigate.

2:20.8

So this isn't beta right now. It's not live yet. I can beta goes today. I don't know how you get into the beta.

2:25.8

IGN's news story does not have a lot of this information. I want to do it because I use the gaming PC work in the gaming PC at home and both go into my TVs.

2:33.8

I don't know. I don't have a monitor dedicated to them.

2:35.8

So this is right at my out. Because that was going to be my question. In order for this TV convenient, you have to have a situation where this PC is always connected to TV.

2:42.8

You don't want to be carrying it back and forth. That would be, that's not very convenient.

2:45.8

I wouldn't read too much into this. There are a lot of rumors about a steam console. I think this is more, they're just recognizing how people are using steam today.
