tonight, as we already noted, we're starting on

St. Paul's Epistle to the Galatians.

So before we actually get started on the text,

we'll have my long rambly introduction

to the book of Galatians, who the Galatians are, why they're called Galatians,

So one of the differences with Galatians as opposed to the epistles we've already read of St. Paul and

many of the ones that we're going to read is that most of those are identified as having

been written to a particular Christian community, a particular church, in a particular city.

But Galatia is not a city.

Galatia was a Roman province.

In the central part of Asia Minor, what's now Turkey, Anatolia.

So of a strip running north-south, pretty much right in the center, slightly to the west of center, in what's now Turkey.

And so St. Paul is not writing this to a specific church, a specific community of a particular city, but to a group of churches in a group of cities.

And a lot of these cities are cities that we read about St. Paul visiting in Acts.

So this includes like Pasadian Antioch, right, which is Antioch in Pasidia.
