Welcome to our new project, the Daily Bible Devotional. The goal is to help you understand and apply

scripture as you go through a New Testament Bible read five days a week, Monday through Friday,

as we move from Matthew straight through to Revelation. In under four minutes each morning, we will recap the chapter,

make some application, present thought questions for the day, and offer a prayer together.

Let's study together in Galatians chapter 4.

Before Jesus, the Galatians were like children under guardians, enslaved to the world's

principles.

But when the time was right, God sent his son to redeem them so they could be adopted as his

children.

Because they are his children, he has given them the spirit,

allowing them to call him Abba father. Paul warns them not to return to bondage under the law,

reminding them of their initial joy in the gospel. He expresses deep concern for them,

longing for Christ to be fully formed in them. Using the story of Sarah and Hagar, Paul illustrates

the difference between living under God's promise versus slavery to the law. He urges them to embrace

their identity as children of the free woman and to live in the freedom of Christ. We are deeply

indebted to God for all he has done to redeem us from our sins. He sent

Jesus through a woman, born under the law, to redeem mankind from the burden of justification

through lawkeeping. He poured the spirit of his son into our hearts to help us call out to our

father. We are freed by the grace of God, adopted and

cherished as his children. It would be foolish to forsake liberty and our Savior for the bondage
