Hey, everybody. It's Matt. This is the 10-minute Bible Hour podcast. And several years ago, I got asked to teach a bunch of homeschool parents, like a little homeschool get-together thing with a bunch of really talented moms and dads who were teaching their own kids. And they had sort of a little curriculum thing that they were using. It looked pretty smart to me. And they asked

me if I would come and lead this sort of annual training event that they do with all of these

0:44.6

homeschool parents and teachers and for, I guess they call it a co-op for the co-op they were doing.

0:50.5

And I said, sure, that sounds cool. Way to be proactive. That's very interesting.

0:55.3

Sure, I'll do it. And they were like, cool, you'll just have to travel to this other city far,

1:00.3

far away and go to a seminar so that you can be taught how to teach us. And I was like, what? But you asked

1:08.9

me, I'll show up your thing, but I don't want to go get trained

1:13.5

how to teach you the thing you asked me to know. And it was weird. I was like, all right,

1:22.3

whatever. I would just get out of town for a few days. I guess I'll go give it a try. And it

1:26.3

wasn't the best. It was not my favorite thing that I've ever sat through. And one of the reasons is because we

1:32.2

spent so much time on basic outlines. It's like, I got things I want to do. I don't want

1:40.4

a full day seminar on how to do an outline. And I'll never forget it. And maybe it was

1:45.9

super useful and maybe other people appreciated it. Maybe I didn't pay attention well enough.

1:50.4

Could be. But I remember them bringing us in, like all these other people who were going to

1:55.1

speak at this same event and other groups all around the country. And they're infantilizing us. Like they're teaching us,

2:02.5

all talks should have an introduction. Looking around, waiting for the punchline, it never came.

2:10.7

So we're going to start by working on introductions. In the introduction, you should try to establish

2:15.7

rapport with the audience and give them a sense of what you'll be talking about.

2:21.1

I was like, yeah?

2:23.2

I mean, yes, I know, right?

2:25.7

Like, I think we all know this.

2:27.9

And then, after lunch, we did a whole big session on the ending.
