Hey, everybody, it's Matt. This is the 10-minute Bible Hour podcast, and we're in the home stretch of Galatians. Here we are following the Apostle Paul's final arguments in this book, the stuff he really wants us to take with us. Some of it, in his smoking gun, it's spelled out, you really can't miss it. Some of it is a little more subtle. It's allusions back to

0:38.6

ideas that he built out really thoroughly earlier on in the book of Galatians. But we're going to

0:43.7

try to catch them all. Got to catch them all. Or at least most. We're doing our best.

0:50.1

Yesterday, we talked about two points that Paul clearly is making at the end of this letter.

0:54.8

One is that, hey, I Paul wrote this letter or dictated this letter, and also I'm physically

0:59.7

writing this part. Point number two, that should matter to you, Galatians, who are receiving

1:05.8

this because there is such a thing as actual authority and the right version of this message.

1:12.4

And I have demonstrated to you that you are getting that and that you can be confident in it,

1:18.6

that you have the correct marching orders, and that you should listen to this and base your

1:24.2

actions and your trajectory on what I'm saying right now. There is such a thing as

1:29.2

the actual church, actual true teachers, the actual message, and you're hearing from it here

1:35.2

throughout this letter. That's pretty bold. We live in an age of everybody's got an opinion and we

1:40.3

have this shoot the middle fallacy thing that we do. I think it's just a way to try to make

1:46.2

nice with people in a time where people fight a lot. But the middle fallacy is being like, well,

1:51.5

the two craziest extremes that people think, truth is right there at the 50% mark between them.

1:57.3

It's, of course, nonsense when we think about that. It's not how it works, but these are chaotic

2:01.3

times and it's strained our thinky brains and our sort through all of the noise brains so much that

2:08.3

sometimes that lazy assumption is there. Sometimes we panic if somebody puts a flag in the ground

2:14.8

and they're like, all right, there's a lot of opinions, but this thing is real. Well, Paul is going to double down on that in the next couple of points that he's making here at the end, and we took a bunch of time to look at it in detail, so I won't unpack all of it again. But he goes on to say, those who want to make a good impression outwardly are trying to compel you to be circumcised. The only reason they do this is to avoid being prosecuted

2:34.9

for the cross of Christ. Not even those who were circumcised obey the law, yet they want you to be

2:40.6

circumcised that they may boast about your flesh. All right. So the next point that Paul is saying,

2:46.5

now that he's taken the pen, and he's trying to make make sure everybody you, me, the Galatians,
