Today's guest has a message for electric vehicle skeptics.

EVs are coming fast and the government is playing a crucial role in building out the

charging infrastructure to support those vehicles.

Gabe Klein, our guest, is executive director of the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation.

The Joint Office combines the U.S. Department of Energy and Department of Transportation expertise and

Zero Emission transportation to guide the build-out of infrastructure to support

zero-emission vehicles. Gabe will explain the government's role as a

catalyst for E.B charging infrastructure, give an update

on charger installation progress, and describe how the CCS charging standard and Tesla's connector

will coexist.

So we have a lot of questions for you, a lot happening in this space, but just to level set as we begin, can you tell us a bit about the Joint Office,

why it was established and how you got to your role?

Yeah, absolutely.

So the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation

was established through the bipartisan infrastructure law,

which was passed in late 2021.

And that's when the office was initially stood up but really got going in 2022 like real

efforts to you know bring people in from the labs and staff it up and then I came on I think September 26 of 22 and the goal of the office was a few fold if that's the right phrasing, it was to, you know, expedite the movement to electric and, you know, clean, sustainable transportation and to leverage the
