Leaders from the G7 group of wealthy nations have promised to punish

The announcement was made on the first anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine

with Russia having new sanctions imposed.

The German Chancellor, Olaf Schultz, said Russia's activities

would be closely monitored as more sanctions come into force.
