Holy Mary, Lord of God, Your Excellency, Your Excellency, Reverend Fathers, thank you for coming here today.

Thank you also to our family who came out all the way from Illinois and California and Missouri and New York.

As you know, this is the funeral mass for my mother, Claire Nix, maiden named Donnelly.

Born in Chicago, Claire lived most of her life here in

Denver, and she's been going to Most Precious Blood, perish for 35 or 40 years. My brother and sister

and I went to school here for 10 years. If I refrain from looking at my family in this sermon,

it's just so I can hold it together, so don't take that as personal.

I'm not making a lot of eye contact.

There's a lot to say.

She is survived.

My mother survived by her beloved husband, Jerry, her firstborn son, myself, Father David Nix.

Then Michael Nix married to Brenda with their girl Addy.

And Megan married to Luke Wheatel with their children, Zaley, Anna, Naomi, Gabriel, and Lizzie. My dad chose the readings for this funeral, and so I'm going to look at these three readings and apply this to my

mother's life. First John three reads, see what kind of love the father has given to us that we should

be called children of God, and so we are.

Last night we had the wake, the vigil, and I was surprised at the things said about my mom,

not because I disagreed with them, but because a lot of times, you know, at a eulogy,

people will show up and maybe say some kind of nice things and kind of razz them,

where there were superlatively nice things said about my mother. For example, as most of you know,

she was a pediatric nurse before she met her husband, my dad. She was in oncology. She got
