on improving my health after finding out I have high blood pressure. My mom is adopted.

So I would like to get a DNA test done to learn more about my genetics and potential

conditions to watch out for. Make sense. Here's my dilemma. My mom got into contact with

her biological mom through email in the early 2000s. The biomom requested that my mom

not contact any of her family members as she would have negative repercussions with her

religious community. I believe she had three or four children, not including my mom. Since

then, the biomom has passed away. My mom has a high moral standard and is extremely respectful

of this, but has also struggled a lot with her identity and family. I am pretty set on

taking the test, but not sure what to do about the logistics. Do I tell my mom beforehand

or offer to get her one too? Do I not say anything and catch her off guard with potential

results that could expose her biomom? Are there other hypothetical ways to go about this?

Obviously, this would only apply if her bio's mom's family has done them too. I don't

think the popularity and wide access of this technology was anticipated before she died
