Bert Show. My daughter is in eighth grade and has been involved in her middle school's

drama program since sixth grade. She also has several years of performing experience

even before middle school. She's worked really hard especially in the last year to improve

in every area. At the end of last school year she heard what show her school was planning

to do for the school year. It's a musical that she loves. The lead role is her dream

role. She worked all summer long with various vocal coaches. She opted to skip our summer

vacation so she could take an intense dance camp. She even took an improv class which is

one thing she has never wanted to do. She had auditions on Friday. She felt good about

her audition until she realized that another girl in her school had also auditioned. This

particular girl has never done anything with her school drama club program. Instead she

has been involved in community theater programs outside of school. She's also really

good. My daughter said she is convinced that this girl will end up with the lead role

that she really wants. The callback list just came out. Unfortunately my daughter was on

the list. Not surprisingly so was the other girl. They have callbacks Thursday and here

is my dilemma. I happen to know that this girl and her mom have said some pretty insulting

things about our school's drama program, the past productions and the talent of some

of the other students. It's pretty obvious that they think they are too good for our school
