0:34.6	Gerald Parker was born in 1955 in Phoenix, Arizona.
0:38.8	He was one of 10 siblings.
0:41.4	His mother died giving birth to her 10th child when Jerry was just
0:45.2	eight years old. His father then abandoned the family. That is... That's really sad.
0:52.3	Jerry lived with his grandmother for a few months and while there he got in trouble for sniffing glue and was sent to juvenile hall.
0:59.0	Afterwards he and a brother went to live with an older cousin, Florence Russell in Logan Heights, San Diego.
1:05.0	And she was quite a bit older.

1:12.2	According to Florence, Jerry's mother's death and his father's abandonment,
1:16.3	quote, broke up the whole family, destroyed him, unquote. And Jerry was never the same after that. But Florence raised Jerry the best she could, treated him as her own child, and she said that he treated her with respect and kindness.
1:31.0	Jerry went to high school at Boys Republic, a private all-boys school
1:35.6	for troubled adolescents located in Chino Hills, California. He did well there and
1:40.3	won some awards. However, Jerry later told a psychiatrist that between the ages of 7 and 15,
1:45.9	he regularly sniffed glue, paint, and paint thinner.
