Welcome to the Prayers of Rest podcast. I'm your host, Ashrida Chuchu, and this season we're praying through the fruit of the spirit.

Specifically, what does it look like to live a life that is fruitful, that bears the image of Jesus?

And how can we do that from a place of resting

and abiding in Him instead of just trying harder?

Today, we're praying through goodness.

And if you're anything like me, it's easy to wonder, are there any good men and good women left in the world?

And the answer is yes.

They're all around us.

In fact, we'll see that God shines his light in the world through his spirit's work of

goodness in the lives of those who believe and rest in him. So as we begin,

find a quiet place and take a deep breath as we enter into God's presence together. Today's reading comes from James chapter 3, verse 13.

Who is wise and understanding among you let them show it by their

good life by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom so let's begin by

reciting God's goodness praising him for who he is and for what he has done in our lives.

Oh God, you are all good and full of grace and mercy and kindness and love.

Lord, only you get to define what is good and evil.

In Jesus, you have made yourself manifest, showing us what it looks like to live in the goodness

of God.

Jesus, you everywhere you went, extended your hand of mercy and compassion. You lived a righteous, perfect life.

And in you, you offer us that same righteousness, the goodness of God that follows us all the days of our

lives.

And so in the next few moments, I invite you to recite God's goodness.
