Welcome to the Prayers of Rest podcast. I'm your host, Ashrida Chuchu, and this season we're praying through the fruit of the spirit.

Specifically, what does a fruitful life look like? And how can we bear much roots from a place of resting and abiding in Jesus?

Today we're praying through kindness,

and I'm just reminded that these aren't distinct fruits, plural, of the spirit.

It's one fruit of the spirit, and they all connect to each other.

You can't be kind without being loving or patient.

And so I just think of the ways that I keep reminding my children time and time again as they relate to one another. Are you being

kind to one another? Are you showing kindness? And I feel like I need that reminder today as well.

And perhaps you do too.

So as we begin, find a quiet place and take a deep breath as we enter into God's presence together. I'm I'm I'm I'm you know I'm I'm I'm I'm you know I'm I'm Today's reading comes from Matthew 25, specifically verse 40.

Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.

Let's begin by reciting God's goodness, praising Him for who He is and for what he has done in our lives.

Oh Jesus, you are the very picture of kindness itself.

From reaching out to those who were ignored by society, to bending low, to wash the feet

of your disciples, even the one who would betray you.

Lord, you showed us what it looks like to live a life of continually pouring yourself out for others.

Lord Jesus, I praise you for you are kind.

So in the next few moments, take some time to recite God's goodness and praise Jesus for how he has shown his kindness in your life recently.

Thank you. We continue by expressing our neediness, confessing our neediness, confessing our need for God, for his forgiveness, for his spirits work in our lives to produce kindness.

Lord, when I look at my own life, I'm just naturally selfish.

Forgive me, Lord.

Help me to humble myself, to give of myself, to look for opportunities to serve and show your kindness, your faithfulness, your mercy, your love, everything you have extended to me.
