Sunday, May 3rd, 2026. I'm Jessica Rosenthal. Energy costs to power our homes and businesses are soaring, thanks in part to AI data centers and advanced manufacturing. The estimates are that those costs are only going higher in the coming years.

We've heard from the witnesses yesterday, the primitial agreement, I would say,

is that whoever needs to bring data centers online are going to have to pay for them.

And so that's something to be passed on to the consumers.

And this past week, federal fraud fighting efforts intensified as investigators rated several

businesses in Minnesota, as one Trump

administration official puts state Medicaid providers on notice.

This is a fundamental issue.

Somebody who's willing to steal your money if you're in a vulnerable situation is more than happy to steal your health.

They'll take your life.

This is the Fox News rundown from Washington. This week, an energy and commerce

subcommittee held a hearing examining electricity costs due to AI data centers. Homeowner

rates for power have been increasing. Utilities filed a record

$31 billion in rate increased requests last year. Last month, the Energy Information Administration

reported that as of February, total average revenues per kilowatt hour for electricity rose 9%

year over year. The ICF data center says residential retail electricity costs could

increase as much as 40% by the year 2030.

The world is at a precipice of great change, and we must get this right. It is no secret

that energy demands coming from data centers are raising concerns about affordability in

our communities.

House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Brett Guthrie spoke at a subcommittee hearing this

past week on demand from AI data centers.
