That was Scott Stewart, Mississippi's solicitor general, asking the Supreme Court on Wednesday to set aside nearly half a century of precedent on abortion restrictions.

Stuart defended a 15-week abortion ban adopted by Mississippi, a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, to cases that have shaped the constitutional right to have an abortion and the viability and undue burden standards that must be met to restrict the procedure.

Julie Reickelman, the senior director at the Center for Reproductive Rights, argued against the Mississippi law, telling justices, Roe and Casey were correctly decided.
