I'm Jessica Rosenthal. This week we spoke to former Justice Department prosecutor and current

partner at Ifra Law, Jim Trustee, about bail. As some prosecutors around the country

pushed for no bail or low bail, some states are also

passing laws as well enacting no cash bail rules for most crimes.

The issue was most recently highlighted by a case out of Wakasha, Wisconsin.

The man is accused of killing several people with his car

by driving through a Christmas parade

was out on a thousand dollars bail

even though he had a long criminal history

and had just been accused of running over the mother of his child.

We talked to trustee about the purpose of bail, why some on the left argue bail is harmful in most cases,

and what trustee's advice is on how bail should be handled moving forward.
