Saturday, April 18th, 2026, I'm Jessica Rosenthal. Between resignations, talk of an expulsion,

a special election and wrangling votes to help our nation's spies. It was a hectic week in Congress.

They worked to pass the one big, beautiful bill last year. It took from February till July the 3rd, every waking

moment, weekend sessions, all night sessions, you name it, both House and Senate. I was here for all of it.

And now you're going to do this two more times between now and November. And this week we learned

about the increasing threat of microplastics to human health. What we're seeing is that microplastics are everywhere in the human body, all the way from

the brain to the colon to even all placentas that we've tested so far.

This is the Fox News rundown from Washington.

This week, Democratic Congressman Eric Swalwell resigned from office, just before one of five of the accusers against him held a press conference to say he raped her.

Texas Republican Congressman Tony Gonzalez resigned as well after an affair with a staffer. That staffer later committed suicide. Speaker

Mike Johnson was asked about what is being done to protect staffers and others in Congress.

The House Ethics Committee has been one of the most involved busy committees in Congress,

and they are around the clock investigating allegations

against members. That is the due process that's afforded everyone. When an allegation is made,

they go into that process. It's bipartisan by design and it has worked well. He said they've tightened

up ethics rules and will continue to be aggressive to ensure abuse doesn't happen.

What more could the House do to protect staffers from predators? You didn't say that. I said it.

But then the talk was of who knew what and when, with reporters peppering lawmakers with

questions about the rumors that had surrounded Swalwell in particular for years. House Minority Leader

Hakim Jeffries denied ever hearing accusations against
