Today we're joined by Cameron McCord, investors, startup operator and former Navy officer.

Cameron, welcome to the show.

Awesome, thank you, Zoe, and thank you Grant for having me.

It's a real pleasure to be here.

So Cameron, I know that your interest in geopolitics goes back a long time.

Can you tell us a little bit about how you first became interested in foreign policy and

national security issues?

Absolutely.

So for me, this is definitely a family affair.

My passion for foreign policy is definitely very closely coupled with my decision to join

the Navy, which I think was set in motion long before I even existed.

This desire to explore by my grandfather, who was escaping a different, difficult childhood

and was dreaming of something much more.

So put simply, my grandpa is my hero.

When he turned 18, the year was 1941, and as was said, the eyes of the world were upon

him.

He, like so many at his time, decided to do his part, he enrolled in the Naval Academy during

the height of World War II.

His naval career put simply was the stuff of movies.
