Summary

See what happens when women founders build together. RSVP and join us for the Dear FoundHer Forum Virtual Open House + Networking Session on December 9th

Growth takes on a new shape when a social media manager realizes her own brand no longer reflects the business she wants to run and chooses to rebuild it with the clarity of a small business owner who is ready to move forward with intention.

Shane Shaps sits down with Lindsay Pinchuk to reflect on the turning points that reshaped her work as both a social media manager and a small business owner. She talks about the moment she noticed her brand no longer felt like hers and how rebuilding it helped her reconnect with her voice and her values. She also shares how her role evolved from handling every task herself to offering strategy and coaching in a way that supports clients without stretching her thin. Their conversation explores the reality of building a small team, the relief that comes with delegation, and the steady sense of direction that grows when you surround yourself with a community that understands the challenges of running a business.

I'm your host, Lindsay Pinchuk, and I am excited to introduce you to the founders who remind us all what's possible when women come together.

0:35.1

Welcome back to another episode of Dear Founder. I'm so excited that today I have my friend

0:40.6

here, Shane Shaps, who is the founder of Big Voice Social. Shane, welcome to Dear Founder. Thanks, Lindsay.

Thanks for having me. I'm so excited. I'm so excited that you're here. I'm so excited to share the

0:51.6

story of your business and the growth of your business over the last

0:55.1

couple of years since I've met you. But before we get into it, I want you to tell everyone

1:00.2

a little bit about big boy social and what you do. So we are an outsourced voice to the brands

1:06.3

we work with. I sort of happened into this sort of out of nowhere. In 2008, I had gone from several

1:13.1

iterations of being my own boss, being an entrepreneur. I had this business rolled into this

1:18.5

business, rolled into this business. And I sort of landed on this. At the time, I was a sales rep

1:23.9

peddling some cute little gift items in my hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. And then I had

1:28.2

friends in Chicago and L.A. and some other cities that were also peddling these products for me.

1:34.4

And one of my customers was a local little gift store. This was 2008. Facebook was pretty new.

1:40.7

And he said, I see you on Facebook all the time. Do you think you could help me with my store?

2:02.0

And I was like, okay, sure. And then sort of one thing led to another. From him, I got a referral. Somebody called me and said, I've seen what you're doing at that store. I'd love to have coffee with you. I just left my six-figure position at a huge company, going into a startup, and we want to hire you on an outsource basis.

2:07.6

And I said, to do what? And she said to handle our social media. So at the time, I had no idea that was a career. And I've grown it over these years, added on a team. And we just keep

2:14.1

learning. So that's just a little bit about what we do. Tell us a little bit about the

2:18.0

services that you provide. Sure. So we work with businesses of all shapes and sizes, but I will say

2:23.0

the majority of our clients are small businesses, some medium, but rarely do we work with a large

2:29.1

company because typically they have an in-house team who does what we do. And what we do is create a persona behind the
