Ash is an actress best known for her roles in American Horror Story, Mayor of Kingstown, and the Netflix miniseries True Story. She grew up in a devout Mormon family in New York, married young and became a mom of two while launching her acting career in Utah before eventually moving to Los Angeles. She now stars as Andrea Cruz in Marshalls,

a new CBS drama set in the Yellowstone universe. Ashley has also gone through a personal journey

of leaving Mormonism and rebuilding her own spirituality. So much to talk about. It's so weird when

you hear your story being told by someone else because it doesn't sound like it's even you. I bet. And also so truncated. Like just those bullet points are like, oh, wait, that's my life. I know. And it sounds like you're talking about someone else. I'm like, oh, I did do that. That's you, baby. That's you. I'm so thrilled to have you here. I know kind of the bare bones of your story, and I'm just

really excited to jump into it all. I'm so excited to be here. That's why I reached out because I've

loved your podcast for years, and so it's just, it's really surreal to be sitting here after

watching and listening to so many episodes. Oh my gosh. Well, thank you. I actually did want to ask. I'm

sorry, I did not prep you for want to ask. I'm sorry,

I did not prep you for this question. But I'm curious what your intention is in sharing your story.

We're going to be talking about like the religious upbringing, the religious deconstruction,

spirituality, where you're at now. What draws you to sharing? I just know the, there's so much resonance in these types of stories.

The way we grew up is so unique.

And if you didn't grow up in this world, it's really difficult to understand.

And listening to your podcast, like Amber Fillarups episode, for example, I felt so seen.

If there's even one person who listens to my episode and feels like,

wait, that's something I've gone through that's finally being put into words and spoken about,

then that's the only reason why I'm here, because that's what's happened to me by your episodes.

So that's why I reached out and- Oh, I love that. I love that so much. It really is such a

powerful thing to connect. And that's why I love doing this. So I appreciate you saying that. And
