And I go back to Mayor Impilitari, never heard of his name.

He was mayor from 50 to 53.

I was a kid.

Then there was Mayor Robert Wagner.

Pretty straight business guy.

Don't know anything about him like out of the godfather.

You know, Waspy mayor 54 to 65.

I paid no attention to who he was.

John Lindsay, showman, 66 to 73, ladies man, good looking guy, did a good job.

So the city was always a melting pot of 9 million people at the time, different ethnic groups,

always vying with each other.

But somehow, these mayors

and Pilateri, Wagner, Lindsay, then came A-Beam, Jewish guy, 66 to 73, did a good job. Then A-Beam

was followed by Mayor Koch, great mayor, 78 to 89, Jewish. He was gay, no one cared, did a fabulous job.

Then came the disaster.
