Welcome to Grow Cook Itter Range, the podcast of me, Sarah Raven, and today I'm on my own because I really wanted to talk about my favourite cut flowers.

Now, gosh, I don't all groan because it is one of my special subjects.

But I feel that I've learnt so many new ones in the last year or two since I did an episode

on cut flowers that I just, I wanted to revisit it basically. And what am I looking for

to make something really, really valuable as a cut flower? Well, obviously it's got to be beautiful, but it could also be interesting.

So they're not all, you know, they haven't all got to be glamor pusses.

They can be oddities, and so they could look really incredible as a single stem.

So my absolute favourite for that, we come into summer is Nicotiana

Sylvesteris, only the lonely, the tall tobacco flower, the white one that grows in shade.

And I just love a single stem of that, just in a really tall narrow net bottle in our sitting

room on a side table, it's fragrant in

the evening, it lasts two weeks in the vase, or certainly 10 days, and it's sort of elegant and a bit
