Going back to, I guess, just the Buds experience, just because I'm, you know, I've had obviously a number of team guys on, but yeah, yeah, I'm always fascinated by kind of the expectation versus reality, you know, whether it's Tears of the Sun, the pamphlet, like doing the research, talking to motivators, like everybody has this idea of what buds is going to be like

0:22.4

was it what you thought it was going to be or was there anything that surprised you either

0:26.5

was harder than you thought or easier than you thought um i didn't really go in with any expectations

0:33.0

i read um i forget the name of it but the book uh, Dick Couch wrote a book about, like, buds.

0:38.8

There are some stories in there about, like, funny stories about, like, you know, guys swimming with, like, getting bit, their fins bit by sharks and, like, hanging off, hanging off, like, a ladder on, like, a helicopter flying over the bay at, like, 50 miles an hour, because the pilots didn't near there. So I read about that and then like I could read a little bit about some of the stuff the evolutions and buds but that was like an

1:01.0

older book so it was like when Buds was in Virginia Beach and they were talking about like

1:04.4

breaking the ice and golf courses and making guys like dive down and like fine golf balls so I

1:10.3

kind of like really overhyped it in my head in a lot of ways.

1:14.5

So there wasn't anything really that blew me away.

1:20.9

Like nothing ever got in my head too much except for the 50 meter, which was like, I think we did day two or day three at Buds.

1:31.4

And I remember being, I remember thinking it was later on. I barely did the 25, like I wasn't kidding, my breath hold was not good, never has been.

1:39.5

I barely did the 25 like in, like, dive mo and boot camp and then in prep like we we do like 30 meter

1:47.9

and then in and basic orientation before you start buds we did like a 35 and like I barely barely

1:54.2

made it and I remember when they're like all right we're doing the 50 meter today I was just like

1:59.8

this is it like this is where my Bud's career, like, ends.

2:06.0

Like, I'm not going to make it. Like, I'll pass out underwater. I know I will not come up.

2:11.6

I refuse. But, like, I don't think I can make this. Like, I truly believe that I couldn't. I remember.

2:16.2

And, you know,

2:18.2

you jump in, hold your nose, do your flip, can't kick off the wall, swim down. I remember I hit the wall. I'm okay, cool, this is good. And then everyone just like stay low as close to the pool deck as you can. Some of the rollbacks are like there's little holes in the bottom of the pool deck. like you can kind of put your finger in and like pull gives yourself a little speed so i'm like okay

2:37.6

and you do it without some of the rollbacks were like there's little holes in the bottom of the pool deck like you can kind of put your finger in and like pull gives yourself a little speed so I'm like

2:37.3

okay and you do it without goggles so I'm like trying to find these holes and I'm like and it's 15

2:42.4

feet deep and I started at the bottom and I remember I was just about to kind of black out and I like
