We are motor sports writers for the athletic, and we are here to talk about the Brickyard 400.

We're in one of the very nice radio rooms at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The sun is setting here, although we get some late sunsets in Indiana this time of year.

And thankfully, we didn't have to see some sort of rain short and darkness type thing,

because although there was a little bit of rain briefly, despite the bad forecast, once again,

they got the race in.

And perhaps just as surprising as that result,

was the winner of the Brickyard 400, Bubba Wallace.

And that is not something that I would have had on my bingo card, certainly heading into

this weekend. Jordan, I'm sure you'll say you weren't surprised. But for me, definitely a surprise.

I mean, he qualified well. He's ran here. He finished like third with Richard Petty Motorsports.

So, I mean, he runs well here. This track sets up well for him. Toyota came in here with fast race cars. You saw

that in qualifying. They qualified one through five. Honestly, probably would have been even better had

Denny Hamlin and John Hernimichek not had their own issues. But it's interesting because Bobba Wallace

has now won this race. His teammate, Tyler Edick, has not. Denny Hamlin, his car owner has not, but Bubba Wallace has.

And this was a very much deserved win.

This was a guy who went out on too late race restarts against arguably the best driver in the world and outduled him and deserved the win.
