Summary

Charles Richardson is joined by Charlie Morgan to reflect on the Lions win over the First Nations Pasifika XV in their final midweek match.

The match was seen as a final opportunity for some fringe players to stake their claim for Test selection on Saturday morning but few put their hand up in the narrow victory.

Owen Farrell impressed playing at inside centre and we ask if his performance was enough to see him break into the 23 for Saturday. We also discuss if his link up with Fin Smith is something we could see with England in the autumn.

Elsewhere, Charles gives us his report from England's tour of Argentina and who impressed during their time away.

And we tackle your questions as usual too!

A somewhat forgotten voice to greet you on today's episode of the Telegraph Rugby podcast.

To misquote the great anchor man, this week Alan Dimmock is on vacation.

I'm Veronica Corningstone. No, I'm not. It's Charles Richardson here, back from England's tour of Argentina, and alongside me, I'm thrilled to report. Is the inimitable? Inemittable. Get that right. Sir Charlie of Morgan. Hi, Charlie. Thrilled. Thrill. Thrill. Indeed, to have you back. Thrill. I am thrilled to be back. We are here in the studio at the Telegraph offices, having just watched the lines limped to victory over the First Nation and Pacifica 15. Limp, is that fair? Maybe harsh. Certainly on the evidence of the first 10 minutes of each half, and the FNP were far stronger than the last combined 15 we saw,

1:28.5

the Australia, New Zealand cocktail, but there were few among the tourists who put their hands up

1:33.2

and screamed, pick me ahead of the second test at the MCG on Saturday. Now, Charlie, how many,

1:39.1

do you reckon, give me a number, put their hand up for the match day 23? Two or three. And you're right in saying that the FNP were far, far, far better than the AUNZ. So that kind of, we've got that context to go off straight away. I would say that it was a real cobbled together line selection, wasn't it? I think fewer than maybe Andy Farrell would have wanted to put their hands up, but Owen Farrell certainly did.

2:01.5

I thought Gary Ringrose did a little bit.

2:03.4

I thought Jack Morgan was kind of understated and quite impressive again.

2:07.7

And with that Joe McCarthy injury or certainly doubts over his fitness and just that quandary over what andy farrell does with his bench there's

2:19.5

certainly enough food for thought for andy farrell going into the weekend fmp v a un z sounds

2:26.0

like a bit of a rat battle doesn't it but and anyone from the fnp just while run them who you think

2:30.2

might must have their way into joe schmit's plans for saturday i don't think charlie gamble will

2:33.9

but uh because they've got Fraser McRite and

2:37.3

Carlo Tazano seemingly covering that seven spot for really scavenging sort of open side,

2:43.5

I thought that Tanya Latteau might have a look.

2:46.4

He was whisked off just after half time, wasn't he?

2:49.5

I don't understand why they haven't had Salachi Lotto in the 23,

2:53.0

certainly for the first test when they were without Valentini, Gleason and Skelton.

2:58.0

Yeah, but those two, if we think that Charlie Gamble,

3:01.3

the outstanding Charlie Gamble, who really disrupted the lines for a second game
