all the news, all the stuff to be aware of. As you start today, just a little overview. Before we

get there, a few celebrity birthdays, today Tom Felton, he was Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter

movies, Tatiana Maslani, great actors, Bonnie Hunt, and Joan Jett and Andrea Bocelli are both

65 today. Happy birthday all around. And I'm the state in TV history, a big one, 29 years ago,

today. Friends, debuted on NBC Iran for 10 seasons, got 62 Emmy nominations along the way.

It all started 29 years ago today. Next year's the 30th, that's a big one.

I'll tell you this. It hasn't been Kevin McCarthy's day, week, month, or even his year.

Here we go. Let's start with the top story. Yeah, right now it's the threat of a government

shutdown. The clock is ticking earlier in the week. It really looked like a temporary deal

had been struck to buy at least a month, but that ultimately failed to pass. So they have

until the end of this month. And yesterday, how Speaker Kevin McCarthy tried once more to pass

that temporary spending bill and this faction of Republicans that are against him again blocked

his measure. And then they all left for the week. They'll be back on Tuesday. They are admittedly

very disjointed right now, not on the same page at all, but it doesn't look like they're even close.

Whatever they can come up with that they all agree on will then have to get through the

Democrat controlled Senate before landing on the desk of the president. And they have next week

to get it done starting Tuesday. They have until Saturday to figure it all out.

All right, okay. Getting into sports here in the NFL. The 49ers beat the giants last night

on Thursday night. Football 30 to 12. The 49ers look good. They're 3 and 0 right now.
