Have you ever thought about this that whenever a great gospel expedition is being launched,

the devil is there to oppose? You see that in the starting of churches? You see that in people creating bulkheads and missions. You see that in each one of Paul's missionary journeys.

Whether it be the first journey in Alimus, the sorcerer in Cyprus,

the second missionary journey, this girl in Philippi,

the third missionary journey, going back to Ephesus,

the sons of Sceva and the demoniac there.

And wherever you see a new gospel expedition being launched, you see great spiritual warfare.

You see it in the ministry of Jesus.

When he sound at the 12, what did they encounter?

Demonic spirits.

When he sound at the 70 in Judea, what did they encounter?

Demonic spirits.

Why was there such a prevalence of demonic opposition during the life of Jesus?

Because this is spiritual warfare in which we are engaged.

Isn't it interesting, by the way, that when Paul deals with spiritual warfare in Ephesians

chapter 6, his prayer for himself is, pray for me that God would give me utterance,

that I may speak boldly as I ought to speak.
