VP J.D. or Vice President J.D. Vance just made sure President Trump's

tariff plan is here to stay. So on Wednesday, the Senate voted on a resolution that would have

blocked the global tariffs that Trump issued back in April. Right now, that tariff plan has been

postponed by Donald Trump. But senators were looking to basically stop Trump from

being able to single-handedly decide which countries should have their goods impacted by tariffs

and how much that tariff would be. But the vote was tied at 49 to 49 in the Senate. Three Republicans

joined every single Democrat there in favor of killing the tariffs, while all the remaining

Republicans voted to keep the tariffs alive. And the reason the tie was 49-49 instead of 50-50

is because two senators weren't there to vote. And in theory, if they showed up to work this week,

they would have successfully blocked Trump's tariff plan because one missing

senator was a Democrat and the other was Mitch McConnell who already voted on one bill to try to stop

Trump's tariffs. That one was against goods coming in from Mexico. Now here's where things get really

interesting. In order to keep Democrats from being able to bring the resolution back up later on,
