And her day starts like any other kid.

She gets up, gets dressed and has breakfast.

And then she would have to leave her integrated neighborhood.

I can still remember taking that bitter walk and the terrible cold that would cause my tears to freeze upon my face.

Pass the white school five blocks away and go another 15 blocks to get to the all black elementary school.

I could only make half of it some days because the cold would get too bitter for a small child to bear.
