0:13.4	Yesterday, June 6, 2024 marked the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
0:19.3	And D-Day will go down in history as one of the most momentous events not only in the history of
0:26.1	the defense of freedom because that's exactly what D-Day was.
0:29.5	The numbers still are absolutely staggering.
0:33.0	About 150,000 Allied troops hit the beaches, most famously five beaches in Normandy,
0:39.5	and this became the final assault from the west on Nazi Germany and the Germans were very much in
0:46.4	place they were behind pillboxes they were in all kinds of fortifications they were
0:52.3	a part of what Adolf Hitler and the Nazi
0:54.9	High Command considered the absolutely necessary line there separating the
1:00.6	Nazi Empire that they had created by subjugating nations, most importantly in this case are talking about France,
1:07.0	conquering much of Europe and of course with ambitions to build the demonic Third Reich.
1:13.5	But as you look at this historic day,
1:16.2	we understand that even as the 80th anniversary
1:18.6	was observed yesterday, American political leaders,
1:21.4	allied European political leaders, even German political leaders
1:24.7	showed up for the occasion because everyone today still recognizes, particularly in North America
1:31.8	and in Europe, but frankly throughout most of the world
1:35.5	recognizes that history sometimes turns on a hinge and June the 6th of 1944
1:41.4	was one of those hinges. Interestingly we are talking about 80 years ago so this
1:47.1	becomes very poignant because even as the 80th anniversary of D-Day was observed, there were men there who had been among
1:55.1	the fighting forces 80 years ago and due to the circumstances and the passage of time
