Let's start today's episode with two new decisions out of the Supreme Court.

Yesterday in a 7-2 decision, the Supreme Court dismissed the third challenge for the Affordable

Care Act, aka Obamacare, by writing that there were public and led states bringing

the suit had no standing to bring the case.

However, the court still did not rule on the bigger question of whether Obamacare

can stand as law without the individual mandate, which is an entirely separate issue.

I guess the third time the charm rule does not apply to trying to take away health care

from 20 million people.

In another new opinion, the court unanimously sided with a Catholic foster care agency

that was fighting for its right to deny same-sex couples, the right to foster children

who were in need.

The city of Philadelphia had limited its working relationship with the agency over its policy,

so the foster agency sued, claiming that they are right to freedom of speech and religion

were being violated.

Amy Coney Barron and her friends agreed, however this ruling is specific to the facts of

this particular case and does not address bigger questions about how to balance religious

freedom and anti-discrimination laws.
