Five former Memphis police officers were charged with murder yesterday.

That's where we're starting the 7th from the Washington Post.

Let's get you caught up with today's seven stories.

The former officers were charged for the fatal beating of Tyrene Nichols, a 29-year-old black man during a traffic stop earlier this month.

The officers were fired last week.

Tyree Nichols' parents sat down with the post this week

after viewing the body cam footage of the arrest.

And then when I walked in that room and I sat there

and I heard my son's voice,

because that's gonna be the last time that I hear my son's voice because that's going to be the last time that I hear my son's voice.

And that just did something to me and I just had to get out.

I had to get up and I had to walk out.

The family also discussed how jarring it was that the five suspected officers are black

and what it was like having to see the image of their son in a hospital bed

with these horrific injuries. Body cam footage shows that Nichols was kicked,

punch, pummeled, and tasered.

The footage is being publicly released tonight, and officials in Memphis are bracing for protests.

Number two, the quest for classified documents is going deeper.

The National Archives asked former presidents and vice presidents yesterday to look for any sensitive material

that could have been left behind. This comes after papers were found at
