Hey friends, welcome to today's episode of Everyday Truth, and so glad you joined us here in Israel.

Yes, you heard me right. I am in Israel, and I'm with a great group from the Pensacola Christian College, some of their 20-year employees that are being treated to just an all-expense-paid, beautiful trip here to Israel.

And it's been my joy to spend some time with them.

I'm at the Dead Sea, so you can see behind me the beautiful scenery of the Dead Sea across the way.

the day and the sun sets quickly and so I'm running out of daylight and I want to jump right into

getting more out of your Bible reading. And what a great topic that is for us to discuss for the next few days,

a couple weeks, really. And I want to talk to you about something we mentioned yesterday,

but that I think needs to be reiterated so often. And that is don't be in a hurry when you read your Bible. I don't know whoever came up with

this idea of you have to do so much in a day. And sometimes we were our own worst enemy because

we have these grandiose ideas. Like I'm going to read my Bible in a month, or I'm going to read

my Bible four times this year. And if you can do that and do it substantively, great. But I think

if all we're trying to do is get something done or checklist the reading portion of our spiritual

life, then we're not going to get the value that we need to get.

Much more important is it to understand the Bible than it is to read the Bible.
