this is Good Morning America. We're going to begin with the powerful snowstorm on the move causing chaos on the roads with major pile-ups on highway. Of course, Ginger's tracking the big freeze and the back-to-back Arctic blast that is sweeping from the Great Lakes to the northeast. Good morning, Ginger. Good morning. Tallahassee, Florida this morning is two degrees colder than we are. No. That is how deep south this cold goes.

So yes, we are 22, they're 20 degrees, the wind chills are even colder, but it's that

air going over the Great Lakes that made major problems on the roads.

This morning, up to a foot and a half of fresh snow making a wreck of the roads around the Great Lakes. In Rochester, New

York, an American Airlines plane veering off the runway. We were able to make that lift

turn quite enough and we're currently in the age of the accident. 90 passengers were on board,

no injuries reported. On the roads, pileups in several states.

This massive multi-vehicle crash in Lafayette, New York, blocking traffic on I-81 South for hours.

20 and 40 vehicles involved, southbound and northbound lands are both shut down at this time.

Mangled cars and trucks all over the road.

These aerial images showing the size and scope of the pile up.

Seven people rushed to the hospital, several with broken bones.

And in Pennsylvania, at least one person dying when two semi-trucks crashed on I-79.
