Summary

The week rolls on at the U.S. Open thanks to our great friends at B.Draddy (use promo code SGS30 for 30 percent off). We’re at the midpoint and Andy and Brendan discuss all the action from Friday at LACC, where the sun came out and scores leveled out a bit after a bunch of hot takes about low scores. The challenging fan experience is a separate matter, especially with the lack of juice around some critical spots on the course. Then they get to the 36-hole leader, Rickie Fowler, and do a little contender-pretender for the lovable fan favorite. They discuss Rory’s sterling round and the concept of “good” bogeys at a place with a bunch of half-pars. They run through some of the chasers on a course that could yield a deep comeback. Brooksy’s comments on the course are also noted as one of the few complaints, however mild. The MC disappointments take on the tumble of Justin Thomas, with questions about a coaching change. They close with a couple horror stories about the TV switchover to Law & Order with kids in the room.

0:45.0	Brendan, I'm doing great. I'm coming to you live from outside the dready house. I'm a little uncomfortable. I'm back on radio row in the media center.
0:56.0	Back to our staff and grounds for the open championship, actually doing some radio from the media center, happy that I'm not getting shook down for doing it.
1:06.0	Yeah, I'm going to make sure there's no one from the R&A that's easy there. They're going to just add another feed.

1:20.0	Well, good. I'm glad, you know, we're trying to get this out Friday night before you have to make your trek back up the hill.
1:27.0	So you are recording. I'm back in Maryland again, flew back. We'll be here for the duration of the weekend, long day, but a good day at LACC.
1:38.0	It looked like, what would you do today? Who would you follow? I think you were Rory and Ricky on two ends of the draw.
1:43.0	Yeah, two ends of the draw had a little live podcast in the middle, took in a lot of golf. It was a delightful day.
1:51.0	I enjoyed. I'm currently sifting through some of the golf course takes that were presented yesterday and they're all in a garbage can.
2:01.0	So it's been a fun day. They weren't in the garbage can until lunchtime though. That stuff kept going.
2:08.0	As I tweeted, like, these are long days. Every take gets workshopped and it's PGA. It's us open.
2:16.0	US open, especially the course is a subject of scrutiny and discussion.
2:20.0	And so like over the course of these 15 hour days, everybody proposes everything.
2:26.0	Everybody goes to one extreme or another with during within that time frame and usually by the end of the day or the end of the championship, it kind of shakes out in the wash.
2:35.0	Yeah, and listen, like this golf course was going to have lower scoring. That's the golf course.
2:43.0	It presents opportunities to score. But it also is very, very, very challenging if you miss one of the fairways.
2:51.0	And when you see that with guys like it, it's just struggle if you don't hit the fairway.
