Let's get you caught up with today's seven stories.

The full scare invasion that intelligence officials had been

warning about for weeks is now underway and there are reports of explosions and attacks at

several major Ukrainian cities starting in the city of Kia. There has been reports

of explosions. That's a clip from

CBC News on the day the invasion began last February. Since then

thousands of lives have been lost. Millions of people have fled their

homes. Ukraine's economy and infrastructure have suffered.

Shipment delays have also magnified a food crisis. This is just some of the global

impact. The front line of the conflict is now 600 miles long in eastern Ukraine.

It stayed mostly the same since been November.

Russia has 320,000 troops in Ukraine, but experts say its capabilities are declining.

Neither side can make gains without a major advantage in weaponry or force size.

Story number two, a major storm encased in the northern U.S. in snow and ice yesterday.

Winery conditions stretch from coast to coast.

Parts of some Great Lakes states got a thick coat of ice leading to

widespread power outages. Portland, Oregon had its second snowiest day on

record. Around 1600 flights were cancelled. The storm is now moving from the Pacific Northwest

towards Southern California. That region could experience historic levels of snowfall
