All right. Okay, I know I say this all the time, but there's a lot going on today. We started the top story and this one could have been a real disaster.

A pending national rail strike was just narrowly averted a strike would have been devastating to our economy estimated to cost $2 billion a day if it happened.

Last night right before the strike deadline, the Senate approved a bill that would force a tentative agreement between the railroads and the unions.

It now goes to President Biden who earlier this week was urging lawmakers to move quickly on this. I will add though, there was a separate vote regarding paid sickly for rail workers that currently have zero paid sick days.

They were looking to add seven and that was shot down. So they're not getting it as far as I know that was like the main issue here between the railroads and unions.

So while this bill has been approved and the strike is avoided, it seems like it's not over.

Okay, okay, getting into a couple sports headlines now. First sad news for baseball fans. All the famer and two times Sai Young Award winner, Gaylord Perry, just passed away at the age of 84.

He played in Major League Baseball for 22 years.

In World Cup news during yesterday's match between Costa Rica and Germany for the first time ever in a men's World Cup game, the on field refereeing team was comprised of all women.

In the end, Germany won that game, but this is where it gets crazy. Germany was knocked out of the tournament anyway because Japan beat Spain.

It all kind of makes my brain hurt. Japan beat Spain after a very controversial goal that was called out at first, but then I don't know.

Soccer is kind of confusing, but Germany won their game and were eliminated. And don't forget Team USA will be back out there tomorrow morning to face the Netherlands USA.
