According to the UN, at least 185 people have been killed and 1,800 injured in three days of fighting in Sudan.

The UN envoy, Volker Perthes, has condemned the violence and said he'd asked both sides,

the regular armed forces and the RSF paramilitary group, who are loyal to rival generals,

to hold a brief ceasefire to allow humanitarian access to civilians.

Speaking after a meeting of the UN Security Council in New York, he condemned the killing of three world food program employees

and called for an end to attacks on UN and other aid organizations.

We strongly request both sides to respect the need to protect UN agencies, UN installations,

embassies, aid workers, medical facilities.
