This is CBS, I'm the World. I'm John Bash. The tragedy of the death of a 17-year-old

and nantair, west of Paris, leading to night after night of protest, disorder, looting,

burning of cars, a general emergency throughout France, eventually a meeting of all the

mayors with President Macron in Paris to discuss what is to be done. The cost is at exceeding

one billion euro for now. However, the question is, where was this? Was this across France?

At one point, the Minister of Tourism in Paris assured the British visitors that all was

safe. We go now to the South of France where our British visitor, Simon Constable, is in

residence, living in Ossetane, a region in paradise in the agricultural belt of France. Also,

I mentioned Marie Le Pen, Catertory. Simon, a very good day to you. You're near this big town

to you, considering you live in this beautiful residence, which is surrounded by farms, is

Albi. You tell me Albi has 50,000. Did you see anything of the police presence similar

to what you saw during the early days of the protest over the pensions? Good evening to you,

Simon. Good evening to you, John. I've been going to Albi each week to the center of Albi,

and last Friday, when things really started erupting quite violently in very large cities,

like Paris and Marseille and Leon. I didn't even see a single police presence. There were no

police officers there. There was no army, no soldiers, no riot police, no vans. Normally, when

that's happening, you see a presence. When there were the strikes earlier in the year, and you'll

remember that the train strikes and basically be everything strikes. It just rotated around various

different things. You would see police there in riot gear or having the right at their side.

This time, nothing. There was no sense of tension among anyone. I've been going to a meeting with

the government and part of the rest of the group are the refugees. No one was feeling tense,

no one was feeling worried. It wasn't an anxiety-making moment. Like you would expect, it would be,
