French authorities prepare for a theatre of urban violence following days of protest

sparked by the shooting dead of a teenager by police. We get the latest from Paris.

We start though in France.

That is the sound of protestus in the Paris suburb of Nonteire. Two days after a 17-year-old was

shot and killed by a police officer. Reports in France say police there are preparing in the coming

nights for what an internal security note seen by the news agency AFP has described as a theatre

of urban violence. Now the distress between the French police and those living in the poorer,

racially mixed suburbs of Paris has once again been laid bare by the killing of a boy known only

as Narell on Tuesday. 40,000 police that's nearly four times the amount deployed yesterday

are being sent out to try to quell the unrest that so far gone on for two nights.

Presidents Immanuel Macron has condemned the shooting but he's also said the violent response

was unjustifiable. The policeman suspected of the killings been charged and remanded in custody.
