And as we wrap up the second week of the Trump administration, the president shows no signs of slowing down,

issuing a flurry of executive orders and actions aimed at shrinking the size and scope of the federal government,

including a now rescinded

memo, temporarily freezing spending on discretionary programs that left Democrats crying foul.

The president, making no apologies for the move.

There was a short-term pause or funding freeze on certain discretionary spending payments such as government grants,

only for us to quickly look at the scams, dishonesty, waste, and abuse that's taken place in

our government for too long. The American people strongly support these efforts. I talked

about it during the campaign, and they voted for us in record

numbers. Joining the panel this week, Wall Street Journal columnist Dan Henninger and Alicia

Finley and editorial board member Kyle Peterson. So Dan, that's just stepping back, big picture,

second week. What did we learn? Well, we've learned that Donald Trump is not going to

waste any time getting through the second term of his presidency. And there's been a lot of

controversy over the way they've been going about it, the firings, suspending the spending on grants.

I guess my view of this is the old saying, if you're trying to get a mule's attention, you've got to hit him in the head with a two-by-four. I think that's basically what Donald Trump is doing.

The bureaucracies, the political system is so good at receiving normal traditional blows, letting it roll off their

back, we'll get to it later. And he is really shaking things up. Now, there are problems and

difficulties with that, as we saw with the spending order. They had to rescind it because the
