This week we spoke with Los Angeles probate attorney Lisa McCarthy about conservatorships. She told us how she came to be a

leading voice in the Free Brittany movement, as in Brittany Spears. She's been under a conservatorship

for 13 years run by her father Jamie. McCarthy explains the problem with this conservatorship and her gripes with how such legal

arrangements are generally made in the state of California, along with explaining what they are,

how one gets in one, and how one gets out of one.

Spears has told the judge she wants out of hers, and she's accused her father of conservatorship

abuse.
