On Capitol Hill, four House Republicans joined Democrats to pass a resolution for the first time

that would limit President Trump's powers over the war in Iran.

On this vote, the yeas are 215 and the Nays are 208.

The concurrent resolution is adopted.

The resolution is powerful symbolically because it represents a growing divide between

GOP lawmakers, especially those who are concerned about the war's effect here at home

on rising gas and food prices.

The conflict, which has now lasted over three months, never received congressional approval.

So far, 13 Americans have been killed during the war, and according to reporting from Al Jazeera,

U.S. and Israeli attacks have killed about 3,300 Lebanese people and almost 3,500 Iranians.

Republican Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania was one of the handful of representatives who

split with his party on the vote, saying in a statement, quote, we must keep the world safe

and we must also follow the law. The resolution will now move to the Senate for a vote.

And voters in six states headed to the polls on Tuesday to cast their ballots in the primary

election.

In California, the results are still trickling in, for two of the closest watch races in the

country, the battle for governor and for mayor of Los Angeles. In the mayor's race, incumbent Karen Bass is on to the general election in November.

Who Bass will face off against remains unclear.

While former reality TV star Spencer Pratt is ahead of city council member Nathia Rahman,

one expert told the LA Times that with many votes uncounted, especially mail-in ballots,

Rahman can't be counted out.
